Brian Brennan graduated from The Citadel: The Military College of South Carolina in May 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, and a Master of Business Administration in 2022. He received his commission from The Citadel ROTC in the Infantry on 14 July 2006.

 

He completed Infantry Basic Leaders Course in April 2007 and attended Airborne School, followed by Ranger School. Upon completion of Ranger training, he was assigned as a Heavy Weapons Platoon Leader in Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (BCT), 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division. Brian deployed to Afghanistan with 4th BCT in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in March 2008 where he was attached to 4th Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment as a Heavy Weapons Platoon Leader.  During a mission in the Zambar Province, Brian’s HMMWV hit an IED.  As a result of his injuries, he is a double amputee (one above the knee, one below).

 

After his medical recovery, he served as an Experimentation Officer in the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) in Tampa, FL. His tenure at USSOCOM lasted one year and was followed by his attendance at the Maneuver Captains Career Course in November 2010. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment, 198th Infantry Training Brigade where he served as the Battalion Operations Officer and Company Executive Officer. Brian served as the Headquarters and Headquarters Company Commander for the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCoE) from September 2012 to September 2013. He attended the Army Acquisition Basic course and Army Intermediate Program Management course in January 2014. 

 

 He served as an Assistant Product Manager (APdM) for Ground Soldier Systems (Nett Warrior), and Soldier Enhancement Program located at Fort Belvoir, VA from February 2014 through January 2016.In January 2016 to January 2018, Brian served as a Senior Project Officer in Soldier Systems Branch determining materiel requirements for Soldiers, ensuring all forces (current/future) are equipped with state-of-the-art systems and new technologies. In 2018, he returned to USSOCOM and served as the Deputy PM for the TALOS project (Iron Man Suit) and Acquisition Program Manager for Target Engagement (Weapons), PEO SOF Warrior, SOF AT&L. In 2021, he served as an operations officer in the 408th Contracting Support Brigade and was forward deployed to Kuwait from June to September 2022 serving as the Brigade Executive Officer. Currently, he is a TWI fellow with Siemens in Princeton, NJ.

 

His awards and badges include Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1), Joint Service Achievement medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NATO Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Parachutist Badge, and the Ranger tab.

 

Brian Brennan is married to the former Stephane Barton of Charleston, South Carolina and together they have a daughter named Bridget.
